Hellooooo my frandsss.
I’m back. Back in action. Back from an unplanned little blogging hiatus during which a few fun things happened. And a few not-so-fun-but-necessary things happened (AKA a bunch of boring adult stuff that I don’t even want to start talking about because I’d probably never stop).
In the time that I’ve been AWOL on the blog, “Summer” supposedly arrived in St. Louis.
I’d like a refund on this season because my excitement for it going in was quickly drowned out by rain and hot, humid days that have been nothing like last year’s mild, enjoyable climate. #rude
Now that I’ve gotten my normal weather whining in, onto more interesting things: my cousin Amanda traveled here last weekend to have some fun girl time and check out St. Louis.
We took her out to dinner at one of our old Central West End favorites, Gringo, then hung out on Molly’s patio (the bar, not the dog) on Friday night. Then Saturday, we checked out the Tower Grove Farmer’s Market (so cute! so crowded!), followed by a surprise visit to the Verizon Wireless store! … yeah I know, I’m the worst hostess ever. I dropped my trusty iPhone 5 on the marble floor in our entryway, causing it to meet it’s demise. Luckily I had an upgrade on my account and walked out of the Verizon store after 2 hours of waiting with a shiny new iPhone 6. Still trying to figure out how it’s any different from the 5. Moving on…
Brews and German food. Love showing @arandall2219 all of our favorite #STL spots! @urbanchestnut A photo posted by Erika Sevigny (@erikasevigny) on
After the Verizon debacle, we journeyed over to our favorite brewery, Urban Chestnut, for a beer and some yummy German food. It was SO stinkin’ delicious.
(Everything tastes better when you’re starving from standing around a cellular store for 2 hours.)
We rounded out the weekend with St. Louis Uncorked – a wine festival featuring a free concert by OAR. Fun times, fun times.
In other exciting news, I managed to binge-watch a few different TV shows on Netflix that I’m pretty ashamed to admit. Nobody should blow through 7 seasons of Army Wives at the speed I did over the past month…
But nobody’s perfect, right? I’m trying to give myself a break over it.
I’ve been in moving-mode ever since we learned that our rental house had sold over Memorial weekend.
Moving-mode is not a good mode to be in, guys.
When I’m in moving mode, all I can think about are things relevant to the move.
I spend an unhealthy amount of time obsessing over these things. I plan and plan and check my bank account 7000 times per day. I scroll through endless pictures of interiors that I could never afford or even come close to on Pinterest. I stop buying the necessary grocery ingredients to cook much of anything. I stop putting away my laundry and plucking my eyebrows. And I stop blogging.
Not great for my mental health.
I’m trying to right the ship tonight. I cleaned my room, turned on music, lit a candle and now I’m going to write as many blog posts as I can before I hunker down and conquer my frightening eye brow situation. Blogging and grooming = stress relief.
Anywayyy, what’s new in your world? And what’s your best piece of advice for dealing with moving-related stress? Discuss in ze comments.
